The Financial Times reported OpenAI told investors its annualized revenue ran near $50 billion in late September. AI chip stocks sold on it. The rest of megacap tech did not flinch.
Verdict
The repricing is happening inside the AI complex, and semis are absorbing all of it. If AMD keeps closing at the lows, the fade extends to $600 — above NVDA $233.89 we drop the short side entirely.

Six of the ten largest names closed green. Both pure-play chip stocks were red.
The Board
- AMD $612.92 — gapped up 0.98%, closed down 1.25% in the lower third. Third straight red close, down 3.5% over five sessions. Cleanest distribution print on the board.
- NVDA $230.33 — opened $3.37 above the prior close, shut at 7% of the day's range. Third straight red close. Our $233.89 reclaim level is still live through Thursday.
- AAPL $334.70 — gapped down 2.56% on the reported iPhone 18 Pro component order cut. Then closed at 99% of the range. Heaviest volume on the board at 1.3M.
- MSFT $533.24 — up 2.03% to a 90-day high, closed at 90% of the range. The bid is real.
- V $382.88 — closed at the session high. Sixth consecutive green close, 0.7% below the 52-week high at $385.57.
- AMZN $260.08 — up 2.37%, sixth straight green close, upper third of the range.
- TSLA $384.52 — biggest mover at +2.54% and a fresh 90-day high. Closed mid-range, so the follow-through is unproven.
- META $720.53 — gapped up 0.78% and gave it all back. Fourth consecutive red close.
- GOOGL $351.19 — up 0.83% but closed in the lower third. Weakest internal of any green name.
- JPM $332.77 — up 0.41%, closed at the session high, 2.0% above the 90-day low.
MSFT +2.03% against AMD -1.25%. A 3.28-point spread between software and silicon in a single session.
What We're Changing
Two corrections first. We called MSFT below $509 and it printed a 90-day high instead. The rate move lifted megacap software duration rather than crushing it — wrong leg, wrong name.
We also called GOOGL below $335. It sits 4.8% above that, up 3.1% over 30 sessions. The ad complex never cracked, and we stopped pressing.
No change to the AMD or Visa calls. The OpenAI revenue headline supports the semi fade rather than undercutting it.
AAPL is the new one. A 2.56% gap down that closes at 99% of the range is a rejected gap. A close back above $340.42 inside seven sessions fills it and ends the demand story.
Conditions attached. Above NVDA $233.89 on a closing basis, the chip fade is dead and we flip to the long side of the complex. That is the price where this argument lives or dies.
Open Checklist
- AMD $600.00 — below it, the fade is confirmed.
- NVDA $233.89 — above it, we are out.
- AAPL $340.42 — gap fill, or the sellers stay in control.
