Oil popped again Monday on doubts over a US-Iran truce, per CNA reporting out of Sydney. Bonds retreated, yields pushed higher, and Asian equities slipped into a data-heavy week.
That rate impulse landed squarely on US megacap duration. Seven of the ten largest names closed red. The three that held green were semis and Meta.
The Call
Rising yields are doing the selling, and the AI complex is the only bid that survived it. If NVDA holds above $229.00, we press the semi side — below that, the whole group is offered.

The catalyst risk is the September jobs print. CNBC reports prediction market traders are positioned for a beat versus economist consensus. A hot number keeps yields moving and keeps this rotation running.
Priority Board
- AAPL — $331.81. Down 1.95%, the worst print on the board. Gapped down 0.39%, never took out the open, closed at 4% of the day's range. That is a clean seller. Invalidation is $337.10.
- NVDA — $230.10. Up 0.54% on 1.2M shares — by far the heaviest volume. Gapped up 0.94% and sits 0.1% below the 90-day high. $232.81 is the level breakout traders are watching.
- JPM — $334.17. New 90-day low, second consecutive red close, down 7.5% over 30 sessions. Gapped up, then bled all session to close at 2% of the range. Our call for a break of $335.99 confirmed here.
- GOOGL — $338.79. Down 1.16%, third straight red close, off 5.5% over five sessions. Closed in the lower sixth of the range. Below $337.10 the base is gone.
- AMD — $615.32. Up 1.22% after a 1.58% gap higher. Faded to close mid-range, up 21.6% over 30 sessions. Still 2.5% under the 90-day high.
- META — $721.56. Up 0.83% but gave back most of a 1.34% gap. Closed in the lower third. Down 3.6% over five sessions.
AMD outperformed Apple by 3.17 percentage points Monday — the widest single-day spread on the board.
Exposure Check
- Working: Semis. NVDA and AMD were two of the three green closes.
- Not working: Financials. JPM at a fresh 90-day low with V at $366.16 also red.
- Not working: Consumer megacap. AAPL and TSLA at $354.12 — Tesla's fourth consecutive red close.
- Owning a miss: We called META above $770.82 in late September. It never got there and traded to $721.56 instead. Wrong side of that one.
- Changing: The Ternus succession story at Apple drew a constructive read from the CNBC Investing Club. Apple sold off anyway. Good story, offered stock — we respect the print over the narrative.
- What flips this: A soft September payroll number. Yields back off, duration bids, and the rotation unwinds inside two sessions.
Pre-Open Watch
- NVDA $232.81 — press.
- AAPL $330.00 — fade.
- JPM $330.00 — fade.
