The Bank of Japan meets with a hike on the table, and Asian equities rallied into it as oil slipped. Japan is the last cheap funding rate on the planet. If it goes, the most expensive multiples on our board pay for it first.

US megacap growth already started paying Friday. The overnight bid lifted every open. It did not survive the session.

Verdict

The desk is watching META at $668.67 — Friday's low and the invalidation for the two-week momentum run. A close under it confirms that a BOJ hike is repricing duration, and the growth-heavy end of the board keeps de-rating into next week.

The Names

META — $675.61, -0.98%. Gapped up $5.61, printed $690.07, then lost $14.46 off the high. Second straight red close.

Our above-$685.21 call triggered intraday and then got handed back. Worth owning the earlier error too — we called META below $648.64 two weeks ago and it ran to a 90-day high instead. The AI-capex bid was firmer than we read. What changed is the funding side, and $678.99 is now the ceiling that matters.

GOOGL — $350.00, +0.77%. The ugliest green print on the board. It gapped up 2.87% to $357.31, traded $359.38, and closed fifty cents off the session low.

Three consecutive green closes, and this one was hollow. Volume was second-heaviest on the board behind NVDA. Below $347.33, the streak is gone.

Every one of the ten names opened at or above its prior close except JPM, V and NVDA. Seven still finished red.

AMZN — $253.86, +1.06%. Biggest gainer, and the board's worst 30-session performer at -6.8%. That combination is the non-obvious tell.

Consensus rotation on a rate scare goes to the cash-rich defensives. Visa is that trade and it closed red for a fourth straight session. The bid showed up in the discounted large-cap instead. Above $255.41 the recovery has legs.

AAPL — $334.94, -0.61%. The iPhone 18 hit stores Friday, per CNBC, and the stock sold off into the event. We called AAPL above $340.01 and it never got there. Launch day was the catalyst and it was already in the price.

AMD — $542.59, -0.46%. Still up 5.6% over five sessions and within a fraction of its 90-day high at $543.81. It closed near the bottom of Friday's range after trading $552.86. Semis held better than software — MSFT dropped 0.91% — but the shape of the AMD candle is not a fresh-buyer shape.

The Risk Sheet

  • BOJ holds instead of hiking → META reclaims $678.99 → the duration-repricing read is dead and the growth bid resumes.
  • Oil reverses higher → the inflation-risk story that Crypto Briefing flagged post-Fed comes back → JPM back under $345.16 with the bank already sitting 0.7% above its 90-day low.
  • Thin-tape distortion → JPM traded 76,257 shares and V traded 49,223 → the financial-complex signal is weak, do not weight it heavily.
  • Semis decouple → AMD closes above $545.30 while MSFT stays soft → this is sector rotation and not an index-level de-rating.

Tomorrow's Checklist

  • META $668.67
  • GOOGL $347.33
  • AMZN $255.41
