Meta priced depositary shares linked to Series A preferred stock — an equity raise aimed squarely at AI infrastructure. The desk reads that as a funding signal, and META at $612.90 is where it gets tested. Below $600.00, the capex-funding discount deepens.

Verdict

Paying for compute with preferred equity tells you cash flow alone no longer covers the build. The complex gapped up on overnight AI optimism and spent the day giving it back.

Seven of ten names gapped higher Wednesday. Seven closed in the lower third of their range.

That is distribution into strength, and it happened ahead of the Fed decision. Only four names closed green.

The Board

  • META $612.90 (-1.18%) — Fifth straight red close, down 13.5% over five sessions. Opened $621.83, closed near the bottom of the day at 14% of range. $611.00 is the floor bulls need.
  • NVDA $216.90 (-0.48%) — Gapped up 0.88% to $219.85 and closed at 4% of the range. Volume was the heaviest on the board at 1.2 million. A gap-up that closes on the low is a failed gap.
  • AMD $567.50 (+1.29%) — Fourth consecutive green close, but it gapped up 2.25% and finished mid-range. $573.66 is the level that extends the run. $560.75 is the line that ends it.
  • JPM $339.72 (+1.17%) — Third green close and a finish at 98% of the day's range. Best close structure on the board. Still 7.3% below the 52-week high at $366.50.
  • V $402.41 (+0.14%) — Gapped down 1.74% to $394.85 and clawed back to close in the upper third. That recovery was the cleanest print of the session.
  • TSLA $400.92 (-1.61%) — Biggest loser. Opened $410.35, failed, and closed just above the widely watched $400 round number. Still up 10.2% over 30 sessions.
  • GOOGL $323.67 (+0.96%) — Two green closes, but it finished at 18% of range after tagging $326.35. Down 6.6% over 30 sessions. The bounce is thin so far.
  • MSFT $528.27 (-0.58%) — Faded from $534.56 to close in the lower third. Softest megacap close relative to its own range besides META.
  • AAPL $345.35 (-0.51%) — Quiet. Only 1.8% below the 52-week high at $351.73. Nothing broke.
  • AMZN $252.58 (-0.21%) — Down 3.3% over five sessions. $251.99 is the session floor.

What We're Changing

We own the misses. The META above $779.82 call is dead — the AI capex bill repriced the name before the catalyst could land. The preferred raise confirms why.

The JPM above $349.00 call expired. Crude lifted financials, but the bid showed up two weeks late — three green closes now, with $345.00 the next test.

The AMD below $508.40 call is wrong and we are flat on it. Our GOOGL below $319.74 call confirmed at $319.63.

What flips the view: META reclaiming $624.39 on a close would say the raise was read as offense, and the whole fade thesis goes with it.

Open Checklist

  • META $611.00 — below it, $600.00 comes into play fast.
  • AMD $573.66 — above it, the four-day run extends.
  • JPM $339.80 — a clean break opens $345.00.
