The Coldcard number keeps climbing — roughly $88 million drained now, per Decrypt, up from $70 million a day earlier — but the dollar figure stopped being the interesting part twenty-four hours ago. What matters is where the surviving coin is going. CoinDesk reported that holders are sending bitcoin back to exchanges, which is the exact inverse of the reflex that followed FTX. Anyone who was around in November 2022 watched hardware wallet vendors sell out inside a week. This time the panic runs the other direction, and BTC/USD closed at $63,031.99 — up 0.33%, and the single weakest performer in a session where every major finished green.

That combination is the whole session. Custody migration isn't distribution; nobody sold today in any size that showed up on the screen. But coin that was structurally illiquid — sitting in cold storage, untouched, functionally out of float — is now sitting on exchange infrastructure one confirmation away from a market order. It doesn't print as selling. It prints as rallies that stop working.

The Session

Flat open. BTC, ETH, and BNB all handed back the overnight book with a one-cent gap, the fourth straight session that's happened, and at this point the lack of overnight repricing is its own signal. Then the push: bitcoin worked up to $63,634.00 — through the $63,150 marker I flagged Saturday, which is still pending on a closing basis and now looks like it needed a better tape than this one — and ETH/USD ran to $1,884.69.

Neither held. Both faded into the close, and both finished in the lower third of their session ranges. Ether settled at $1,854.91, up 0.54%, having given back roughly three-quarters of its intraday gain. That's a rejection, and it happened on the same weekend that CryptoSlate flagged $365 million of July ETH ETF inflows outpacing bitcoin's — alongside the caveat that MVRV and exchange-flow ratios still sit above prior ETH/BTC bottoming levels, leaving the reversal unconfirmed. The strongest fund-flow story ether has had in months, and price couldn't hold $1,880. Read that how you like; I read it as demand that's already been met.

All eight majors closed green — and the two with US ETF wrappers were the two worst performers in the group.

The bid was everywhere else. ADA/USD ripped 8.31% to $0.1889, closing within a hair of its $0.1896 high after basing at $0.1728 early. AVAX/USD added 6.53% to $6.595, also closing in the upper third of its range. I called Avalanche below $6.304 on Friday and it went the other way hard — the alt bid arrived two sessions before I thought it would, and that one's a miss I'll wear. XRP/USD at $1.0794 and SOL/USD at $73.06 filled in the middle.

Cardano outperformed bitcoin by roughly eight percentage points on a day when bitcoin faded off its high. That's not fresh capital entering the complex. That's the same capital sliding down the risk curve looking for something that still moves — with the fear gauge reading in the mid-20s and July spot bitcoin ETF flows finishing barely positive after a heavy late-month exit. The alt tape is where you go when the majors have a supply problem.

The Line

$63,634.00 — bitcoin needs a close above today's high within three sessions or the exchange-bound coin is the ceiling, and $62,500 comes first.
