Shein goes public in Hong Kong at a reported $26 billion, and the coverage is split on whether the growth story holds. That is a cut-price cross-border retailer getting a listed currency for acquisitions and logistics spend. The read-through for US e-commerce is margin, not headline share.
AMZN closed $254.92, down 1.87%. Second straight red close. Eight of ten megacaps on our board finished lower.
The Call
A listed discount competitor plus a risk-off session is a fresh reason to respect $251.93 in AMZN — below it, the consumer complex trades to the 90-day low band, and above $256.19 the sellers lose the thread.

Risk Sheet
- AMZN — $254.92. Gapped down 1.9%, then bought back to close in the upper third of the range. Session low $251.93 is the line. Now 10.3% under the 90-day high.
- AAPL — $325.13, +2.61%. Best print on the board, 52.3M shares, closed in the upper third. Up 4.9% over five sessions and 5.6% below the 52-week high. $327.30 is the level breakout traders are watching.
- TSLA — $356.09, -3.22%. Biggest decliner, gapped down 1.92% and closed in the lower third. $352.96 is the reference low.
- NVDA — $217.44, -1.51%. Heaviest volume anywhere at 106.7M shares. Closed mid-range. That is churn, not resolution.
- V — $372.67, -1.77%. Closed at the very bottom of its range on 5.6M shares. Thin tape, so the location matters less than usual. Our August call for sub-$354.98 was wrong — Visa spent the interim grinding to within 3.3% of its 52-week high instead.
- MSFT — $501.02, -1.24%. Second red close, but it is holding the $500 round number. We called sub-$475 in August and never got it. The stock is up 1.9% over five sessions and sits 2.5% under its 90-day high. $498.51 is the level that decides whether $500 was real.
- JPM — $354.98, -0.29%. Tagged $359.92, closed in the lower sixth on 3.6M shares. Second red close and still 3.1% below the 52-week high.
- AMD — $459.61, -2.36%. Down 4.1% over five sessions. Weakest structural position on the board at 12.5% below its 90-day high.
Apple beat Amazon by 4.48 percentage points on the session. Two names carried all the green.
The Outlier
META — $578.54, +1.08%. It gapped down $14 at the open, then closed green and in the upper third of its range. That is the only genuine reversal on the board.
Our August call for a break of $564.75 confirmed at $546.19. That move is done. Meta is now 7.3% above its 90-day low and 3.4% under the 90-day high.
Does it matter for the Shein read? Only indirectly. Ad budgets from cross-border discount sellers are a real line item, and a listed Shein with fresh capital spends more, not less.
What changes our mind on the consumer trade: AMZN reclaiming $256.19 with volume, or a soft Shein open in Hong Kong that takes the competitive premium back out.
Tomorrow
- AMZN $251.93 — support.
- AAPL $327.30 — trigger.
