Houthi attacks in Saudi Arabia drove Brent to its highest level in nearly six months, and US futures slid into Friday's open. Eight of these ten names gapped lower on it. Seven of them closed in the upper third of the day's range.
The gap was the headline. The close was the information.
Verdict
Thursday's AI rout did not extend — the sellers got their opening print and lost the rest of the session. The desk is watching AMD $523.88 on the upside and $508.40 as the line that kills the stabilization read.

The Names
- AMD $519.36 (+2.25%) — The only name to gap up and the biggest mover on the board. Our sub-$524.67 call filled at $511.69. Now it is back above. Above $523.88 the recovery has legs; below $508.40 it does not.
- META $647.06 (-0.28%) — Gapped down 1.76% to $637.44 and finished near the high at 94% of the range. Down 10.1% over five sessions. Our $766.41 upside call was wrong and expired — the AI capex scare repriced the whole complex, not the quarter. $633.39 is the floor that matters.
- V $408.97 (-1.30%) — The weakest tone on the tape. Gapped down 0.84% and closed in the lower-middle of the range, 1.4% under the 52-week high. $406.83 is the level payments bulls need.
- JPM $333.13 (-1.01%) — Fifth straight red close, down 3.1% over five sessions. It did recover to 86% of the range. Only 2.1% above the 90-day low at $326.30.
- MSFT $524.84 (+0.72%) — Gapped down to $518.18, traded $515.79, closed at 90% of the range. That is a clean reversal print. Our $543.82 call expired unfilled; crude kept a lid on it.
- GOOGL $323.59 (-0.19%) — Fourth consecutive red close and down 6.0% over five sessions. Sits 1.2% above the 90-day low of $319.74. Weakest structure in megacap.
- TSLA $377.14 (+0.68%) — Closed at 99% of its range, on the high. Up 5.0% over five sessions, 2.2% below the 90-day high.
- NVDA $212.60 (+0.18%) — 1.2M shares, the heaviest volume on the board. Barely green after two red closes. $210.20 is the invalidation.
Only two names closed in the bottom half of their range — and both, V and AAPL, sit within 1.5% of their 52-week highs.
The Risk Sheet
- Oil keeps climbing → JPM below $330.45 → the rotation-into-financials read is dead and the whole board is risk-off.
- AI capex fear returns → AMD below $508.40 → the Thursday rout was pause, not bottom; chip strength fades.
- GOOGL breaks the 90-day low → below $319.74 → megacap breadth cracks regardless of what the chips do.
- AAPL rejects the high → below $346.45 → the one name holding its 52-week high gives it up; no leadership left.
Thin conviction either way. Respect the range until one of these breaks.
Tomorrow's Checklist
