Australian data center operator NextDC shed nearly half its market capitalization Wednesday. Reuters reported the company sharply cut forward revenue guidance and put future projects under review — the cause was power delivery delays, not demand.

Grid access is the bottleneck now, not silicon supply. US chip names gapped down on it and refused to stay down.

The Call

Power-constrained buildout is a timing problem for operators and a margin problem for nobody upstream yet — so chip dips stay bought while AMD holds $524.67.

Risk Sheet

  • AMD $542.19 — Gapped down 1.49% to $530.05, traded $524.67, closed in the upper third. That low is the invalidation. Below it, the power story becomes a demand story.
  • NVDA $217.17 — Gapped lower, tagged $212.78, finished flat. Markets Insider reported chip names bid in Tuesday's after-hours session. Our sub-$212.86 call expired — buyers showed up eight cents under it. Credit where due.
  • META $692.76 — Fifth consecutive red close, down 9.6% over five sessions. Our below-$710 call filled. The $681.18 low is next.
  • V $407.25 — Fresh 52-week high at $408.59. Our bearish $395.38 call was flat wrong. The payments bid outlasted the rotation thesis.
  • JPM $336.54 — Closed mid-range after two red sessions. Still 7.9% under the 90-day high. Our above-$349 call needs a lot of work by Sunday.
  • MSFT $530.84 — Down 3.0% over five sessions, $525.86 the session floor. Softest of the megacaps on no news.

Six of ten names closed green. The four red closes were all megacap tech. That split is the whole session.

AMD recovered $17.52 off its session low after gapping down $8.00. The bid was real where it mattered.

The Outlier

TSLA +2.03% at $375.55 — biggest mover on the board and entirely outside the AI infrastructure story. Second straight green close, finished at 86% of the day's range.

The name now sits 2.3% below its 90-day high of $384.52. That's the level the desk is watching. Above it, Tesla is leading again, not following.

The caution flag is the neocloud financing debate. CNBC reported investors scrutinizing the debt and borrowing costs of AI infrastructure builders, with Nebius countering that compute prices are rising. If credit spreads on that cohort widen further, the power delay becomes a funding delay.

That would change our view on chips fast. Watch for a second operator cutting guidance within the week.
