Crude back above $100 is doing the sorting now, not earnings. Business Today flags elevated oil as the key overhang into next week, and The Hindu Business Line reported oil touching $110 for the first time since May. Friday's board matched that read exactly.

Rate-sensitive financials and payments were bid. Long-duration megacap tech was sold into the bell.

Verdict

This is an inflation repricing wearing a tech-selloff costume. If crude stays bid, we press financials and fade the AI-duration complex on rallies.

Three names closed green. All three finished in the upper third of their range. Four of the seven decliners shut in the bottom tenth of theirs.

The Board

  • JPM $343.84 — Gapped up 1.29% and closed at 91% of the range. Second straight green close. Best print on the board.
  • META $719.94 — Third red close, shut two percent off the low at $719.55. The spread versus JPM ran 4.76 points in a single session.
  • V $403.78 — Eleventh consecutive green close and a fresh 52-week high. The bid is real. Our $395.38 downside call is dead wrong so far.
  • TSLA $359.11 — Gapped up 1.88% to $369.27, then unwound the whole move. Closed one percent off the low. Fifth red close in a row.
  • MSFT $532.24 — Gapped up, reversed, finished at 7% of the range. Third red close. Nothing broken yet — still 2.8% under the 90-day high.
  • AAPL $345.89 — Gapped up 1.2% and held. Sits 0.6% below the 52-week high at $348.15. Our above-$350 call stays live.
  • GOOGL $344.25 — Third red close, bottom tenth of the range. Down 2.0% over five sessions.
  • AMD $541.21 — Gapped down 2.47%, closed at 20% of the range. Down 11.7% in five sessions and still 18.6% higher over thirty.
  • NVDA $216.46 — Eighth consecutive red close, but only 0.35% of damage. Mid-range finish. The bleed is slowing.
  • AMZN $254.04 — Fourth red close, mid-range, no conviction either way.

Jefferies' Chris Wood is urging clients to diversify beyond AI on slowing earnings growth. The board started pricing that view before the note landed.

What We're Changing

We were wrong on NVDA above $233.89. That call assumed dip buyers reclaim the breakdown. Eight straight red closes says the reclaim structure is gone.

The NVDA below $212.86 call stays open through Tuesday. We are not adding to it — the daily losses are shrinking, not expanding.

New position: JPM above $349.00 within 7 sessions. That is the rate-sensitive leg of the crude trade. Below $342.12 the premise is damaged.

Fade side: META below $710.00 within 5 sessions. A close under that extends the duration unwind.

What kills the whole thesis — MSFT reclaiming $543.82, its session high. If megacap software prints above that inside a week, crude is not driving equity leadership and we stand down on the rotation.

Open Checklist

  • JPM $344.37 — session high. Through it, the financial bid extends toward $349.00.
  • META $716.34 — below it, the third red close becomes a fourth and sellers keep control.
  • V $404.65 — the 52-week high. Above it, the eleven-day streak gets a twelfth.
