Megacap risk is on. Nine of ten names on the board closed green Thursday, led by Apple's 4.01% rip to a fresh 52-week high. The one crack: AMD reversed $49.24 from high to low and closed down 3.46%.

Verdict

We stay with megacap strength while Thursday's gaps hold. The level the desk is watching is AAPL $328.72 — a close above extends the breakout, while a close below $317.32 flags a trap. The crash chatter in the headlines is noise until price confirms it.

The Names

AAPL — $327.50 (+4.01%). Gapped up $2.77 at the open and never gave it back. It tagged a new yearly high at $328.72 and closed in the upper third of its range. Volume ran 60.8M shares — that's conviction. Below $317.32, the move flips to a fade.

AMD — $529.14 (−3.46%). The ugliest chart on the board. It gapped to $556.02, tagged $558.81, then bled to $509.57. Anyone who chased the open got caught offside. The close recovered $19.57 off the low — some repair, not enough. Bulls need $509.57 to hold. A reclaim of $548.13 restores the setup.

The AAPL–AMD spread finished at 7.47 percentage points — the widest gap on the board.

Nine of ten names closed higher. AMD was the only one that opened up and gave it all back — a $49.24 reversal from high to low.

NVDA — $212.50 (+0.33%). Heaviest volume in the group at 119M shares. It dipped to $206.04 and got bought back $6.46 into the close. A flat print on that turnover means a fight. Above $213.81, the buyers won it. Below $206.04, the momentum case weakens.

GOOGL — $370.92 (+3.17%). The only green name that opened below its prior close. Sellers had their shot at $357.76. Buyers answered. $373.65 is the next trigger. A Berkshire portfolio now heavy in Apple and Alphabet frames the bid — traders may be leaning on that.

AMZN — $254.960 (+3.02%). Gapped up and closed in the upper third. The $256.48 high is the near-term wall. Below $249.92, the gap fills.

META — $681.31 (+3.07%). Clean gap-up, closed in the upper third of its range. $686.08 is the level breakout traders are watching. Below $656.66, the higher-low structure breaks.

MSFT — $395.63 (+2.78%). Erased the prior slide and added more. The $398.96 high sits just under $400 — a psychological ceiling. A close through $398.96 puts the round number in play. Below $386.40, the bid thins.

JPM — $346.91 (+1.17%). Closed just under its 52-week high at $351.24. The financials came along quietly. A close above $351.24 is a fresh high.

TSLA — $394.46 (−0.43%). The other red name. Gapped down from $399.39 and closed in the lower third of its range. Q2 deliveries print July 22 — that's the catalyst on deck. Below $390.66, sellers press.

V — $355.14 (−0.25%). A flat fade in an up tape. $349.16 is the line that matters.

The Risk Sheet

  • AMD reversal spreads → below $509.57 → the chip bid gets questioned across the group.
  • Apple fails the breakout → below $317.32 → the megacap leadership call weakens fast.
  • NVDA loses its base on heavy volume → below $206.04 → the AI complex loses its anchor.
  • Tesla ahead of July 22 deliveries → below $390.66 → the read-through hits sentiment.

Tomorrow's Checklist
