AMD flushed to $460.21 and buyers reversed it $45.67 to $505.88. That low was the only conviction print on a board where nine of ten megacaps closed red. Everything else was distribution — gap-downs that never fully repaired. The session's question is simple: does the AMD low hold, or was it a one-off?

Verdict

We treat Thursday as broad distribution with one exception — the AMD reversal. $460.21 is the level the desk is watching. If it holds and NVDA defends $197.97, semis get a bounce attempt. If either breaks, the whole complex trades heavy.

The Names

AMD — $495.76 (−1.03%). Gapped down $24.06 to open at $476.88. Anyone long from the $500.94 prior close was caught offside immediately. Then the flush to $460.21 — and a $45.67 run back to $505.88. Closed in the upper third of the range on 32.1M shares. The backdrop was ugly — Seeking Alpha reported AI names fell globally on hyperscaler spending concerns. A close above $505.88 confirms the reversal. Below $460.21, it never happened.

NVDA — $202.81 (−2.21%). Heaviest volume on the board at 144M shares. It recovered $4.84 off the $197.97 low but never threatened the $206.65 high. Below $197.97, the $200 psychological line goes with it. Above $206.65, the momentum case reopens. In between — no edge.

V — $358.56 (−1.80%). The worst close structure on the board. The prior close at $365.14 sat exactly at the 52-week high. Thursday faded from the $363.57 open and finished $1.56 off the low — deep in the lower third. Below $357.00, the failure at the high confirms.

META — $646.01 (−2.79%). Worst percentage loser among the ten. Gapped down $16.84, flushed to $626.00, then clawed back $20.01. Bulls need $652.20 reclaimed before this chart means anything.

AAPL — $333.74 (+0.14%). The lone green close. Printed a fresh 52-week high at $334.99 on 63.4M shares. Above $334.99 there is zero overhead supply. Below $329.00, the breakout stalls. Its spread over META ran 2.93 percentage points — the widest gap on the board.

AMZN — $247.23 (−1.06%). Quiet relative strength. Gapped down $5.43 but closed $2.77 above its own open. That's a recovery session hiding inside a red print. $243.59 is the invalidation.

MSFT — $393.82 (−1.82%). Gapped down $6.24 and closed mid-range. The $400 mark now sits overhead as psychological resistance. Below $389.39, sellers stay in control.

Four of ten names closed in the upper third of their session range — three of them still finished red.

GOOGL at $346.77 (−2.17%) and TSLA at $380.84 (−2.61%) both gapped down and stayed heavy. JPM was the best of the red at −0.60% — it tagged $346.13 intraday before fading to $341.10. Structure over story on all three.

One more read on chip sentiment. DealStreetAsia reported CXMT's $8.6 billion Shanghai IPO drew 500-times oversubscription — but institutional demand was dented by the chip selloff. Appetite for semis is cooling at the margin. If that fear persists, the expression lives in the NVDA low — a break of $197.97 confirms the downside case across the group.

The Risk Sheet

  • Hyperscaler spend fear spreads → NVDA below $197.97 → the semi bounce case dies and AMD's reversal turns suspect.
  • AMD reversal fails → close below $460.21 → the session's only conviction print invalidates — the tape goes fully one-sided.
  • V confirms the failed high → below $357.00 → the 52-week-high rejection extends and payments leadership breaks.
  • AAPL loses the breakout → below $329.00 → the last green name folds and breadth goes ten-for-ten red.

Tomorrow's Checklist

  • $460.21 — AMD floor
  • $197.97 — NVDA trigger
  • $334.99 — AAPL breakout
